Athabasca Land Protection Committee (ALPC) Member

Note: This is not a full-time position

Opportunity: The Athabasca Land Protection Committee (ALPC) is requesting applications from interested community members from Black Lake Denesułiné First Nation, to apply as a member of the ALPC. One (1) position is available.

Principal Duties:

·       To provide guidance on the establishment of protected areas within Nuhenéné (south of 60);

·       To provide guidance on projects within Nuhenéné (south of 60) such as exploration, mines, mills and roads;

·       To participate in 4-6 meetings per year with representatives from industry and government regarding land management and regulatory issues;

·       To identify concerns from your community about land in Nuhenéné (south of 60);

·       To communicate regularly with your leadership on ALPC meetings.

Qualifications and Experience:

·       Be a member of the Black Lake Denesułiné First Nation;

·       Be knowledgeable about the land, water and wildlife in Nuhenéné (south of 60);

·       Be committed to working as a team member on land management issues;

·       Good communication and presentation skills, and;

·       Ability to speak Dene will be considered an asset. 

Compensation and Benefits:

Consistent with YNLR’s compensation guidelines.
