The Ya’ Thi Néné Lands and Resource office works to promote and enhance the environmental, social, cultural, and economic health and well being of the Athabasca basin residents including Black Lake First Nation, Fond du Lac First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, Stony Rapids, Wollaston Lake, Uranium city, and Camsell Portage
GIS Analyst Contractor Overview
In the GIS analyst contractor role, you will be working remotely from Saskatchewan, collaborating with other members of the Ya’ Thi Néné team via online meetings on the scope and schedule of projects. You will be expected to successfully analyze data and produce mapping products as well as present data visualizations within a designated timeframe and send digital products to the Ya' Thi Néné head of operations. Success in this role will be demonstrated by providing remote support and expertise in the development of the company’s GIS capabilities to meet strategic objectives.
GIS Analyst Contractor Responsibilities and Duties
Extensive knowledge of GIS software, particularly ArcMap, ArcPro, and ArcOnline;
Strong understanding of environmental and cultural data, including land cover, land use, and hydrology;
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex spatial analyses and interpret results;
Demonstrated expertise in cartography and geospatial visualization techniques to effectively communicate environmental data;
Proven experience in spatial data management, data integrity, integration, and analysis
Design and implementation of solutions with spatial data models, analysis
Experience working with GPS and field data collection;
Ensures alignment of data with company standards
Monitors and applies the best industry practices
Manages necessary hardware and software;
GIS Analyst Job Requirements
· 3-5 years of experience with ArcGIS;
· Solid cartographic skills;
· In possession of ArcGIS software (Ya’ Thi Néné may cover software licensing costs if required)
· Outstanding project management and facilitation skills;
· Have adequate high-speed internet at your location;
· Detail-oriented, and excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Commensurate education in one or more of the following: Geomatics, Environmental Science, Geography, or have related work experience;
· Willing to sign confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement with Ya' Thi Néné Lands and Resources
· Image Classification, machine learning, and remote sensing would be an asset
