Duty to Consult: Cosa’s Astro Project
Who? Cosa
Where? The Astro project is located approximately 28 km west of Cameco’s McArthur River Mine
What type of activities will occur? Mineral exploration activities, including:
Access:
• Access to the site via fixed wing aircraft with floats or skis or by rotary wing aircraft. Winter access to the project area is possible via 4x4 or snowmobile via SK Hwy 914 and then 45km of trail from the McArthur River mine site or 37km of trail from the fox lake road.
• Existing Trails – 175km – Existing trails may need to be groomed and conditioned.
• Existing trails may need to be widened. This will be done with the use of a skidder to a max. width of 5m.
• New trails – 50km of new trails to be established. To be cleared with a skidder to a Max. of 5m width. Geophysics:
• A max. of 100km of line cutting. Hand cleared.
• A max. of 150km of Line slashing will be used when appropriate to reduce the need for line cutting.
• Max. of 1.5m width.
• Low impact cutting techniques will be utilized.
Temporary Work Camp:
• 4 Temporary work camps are requested.
• These are approximate locations. If the location changes significantly, Ministry of Environment will be notified of the actual location once crews have mobilized to site and have established the camps.
When will these activities occur (Permit Length)? July 2024 to July 2025
