Duty to Consult: Project Proposal for Vegetation Maintenance Activities Along the SaskPower 511 2L3 Distribution Line, Courtney Lake to Hidden Bay (Wollaston Lake), Saskatchewan

What type of activities will occur?

Vegetation will be removed with mechanical equipment and hand tools within the existing 12-meter right-of-way and possibly some additional clearing of up to 30 meters in portions of the right-of-way. Some danger trees (dead or leaning trees that could hit the power line or structures-removal with hand tools) may be removed outside the right-of-way. Herbicides will not be used for this project.

Equipment to be used for vegetation maintenance within the ROW include hydro-axe, tracked multcher, feller buncher, bucket truck and hand tools (chainsaws & brush cutters). All areas will be accessed by existing roadways, trails or from the existing ROW as much as possible. Upon receipt of approval, project work is tentatively scheduled to commence in the winter of 2022.

When will these activities occur (Permit Length)?

  • If approved, the permits will be in place through to March 31, 2023 to provide adequate time for the project work to be completed.
